About the Author

Ellen Frances Keast wrote this book when she was in the first grade. In addition to writing, the 10-year-old is also an artist and does her own illustrations. Keast is a student and lives in Harlan, Iowa. Her next book is titled A Rainy Week.

To a child, snow is a magical event. It means sledding and sliding, building snowmen, and snowball fights. It also means that there may not be any school!

In the story, seven-year-old Ellen watches the weather forecast on TV, and believes that since it’s now spring, there just can’t be any more snow. But then the snow begins to fall. There is so much snow that school is called off for an entire week. When Ellen awakens one morning, she realizes the big snowfall only happened in her dreams. But when she looks out the window, she sees the most amazing sight! There really was snow overnight!
