Flying
to the Rescue
This amazing novel
takes wing and soars. Blades is the four-part adventure
of a 12-year-old boy whose life undergoes a severe trauma. How
he survives and grows over the next five years forms the basis
of this coming-of-age story.
We meet 12-year-old Julian Moreland and his
widowed father, Craig, a military helicopter pilot, in Darwin,
Australia, as his father retires from the army. Accepting a new
job as a civilian pilot in Melbourne turns to tragedy when Craig
is killed. Julian finds himself alone and homeless. By a quirk
of fate, he saves the life of a baby girl and is taken in by her
wealthy family.
Then at age 17, and now a helicopter pilot
like his father, Julian saves the lives of three children,
including two American boys lost in the mountains of
southeastern Australia. He also meets and falls in love with the
missing boys’ sister.
Julian travels to Los Angeles, California, at
the invitation of the parents of the boys he rescued. When
wildfires threaten the area, he is recruited to fly helicopter
missions and saves even more lives.
As the past traumas of Julian’s life begin to
catch up with him, he takes a wrong turn. But he finally starts
the long road back to leading the life he wants to live. This
exciting adventure will fly off with your heart.
