This chilling suspense novel
will take you to a gothic place. In the late 1950s at a convent
in Northern England, a young nun is seduced and raped by a demon
disguised as an angel.
Sister Jane’s life story is
told through her journals, which provide a glimpse into her
troubled soul. Her words also reflect a repressive church, which
is mirrored in the strict moral codes of the time.
To escape the Dangerous
Angel, Jane is forced to undergo an exorcism to free herself
of his demonic presence. After suffering a breakdown, she is
committed to an asylum.
Jane leaves the church to
begin a new life in Paris, where she takes a lover and cuts all
ties with her past. Then the ex-nun discovers she is pregnant.
She leaves for Annecy in the French Alps to have her child.
Jane becomes convinced she is
being stalked by a demon who takes on human form. Her journal
reveals that she was pregnant in the convent, but that the baby
“disappeared”. The authorities don’t believe her and accuse her
of murder.
With her recent commitment to
an asylum, will Jane be able to convince the police that she is
innocent? And where is the baby? You will wonder just who is
really sane.
