Robert de
Warren recounts his life and career as a distinguished ballet
dancer, director, choreographer and designer in the fascinating
memoir, Destiny’s Waltz -In Step with Giants.
Art and a
driving need to create have been the defining features of Robert
de Warrens life, and for him, they opened doors to worlds most
never see.
From his
childhood in Peron’s Argentina to his early career with the
Royal Ballet in London, all of his struggles and triumphs are
laid bare. His unforgettable saga continues as he becomes the
director of dance in Iran under the Shah and comes to know
Rudolf Nureyev, first as an acquaintance, then as a collaborator
and ultimately as a true friend.
During his
life, Robert has met over fifty heads of state, celebrities of
dance, opera, music, literature, film, art and more. And
throughout it all he has retained a childlike joy at the wonders
of our world, a joy that he shares in Destiny’s Waltz -In
Step with Giants.
Says
international choreographer Flemming Flindt, “His
insight into the many unusual personalities he has worked with,
foremost Rudolf Nureyev, and the deep understanding of the
different cultures that inspired him, make this a fascinating
account of an extraordinary life.”
