Meet the Author

Hugh Tetlow was born in Preston, Lancashire. He spent his early years in Cheshire, North Wales. He joined the RAF in 1942 and trained in Canada. After the war, he farmed in North Wales, rejoining the RAF in 1951. Hugh served as an air traffic controller and as an engineer. He speaks Russian, German and Welsh. Hugh has lived in a number of countries, namely England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Germany and the Middle East. He now lives in North Staffordshire where his interests include fishing, gardening, cooking, field sports, ornithology and entomology.

The old adage “when it rains, it pours” rings true in Francesca. Things go from bad to worse for a woman who just can’t seem to dig out of the muck of life.

Nothing seems to be working out in Francesca’s life: She’s locked in a loveless marriage with a merchant banker, and her only relative, her brother, is injured severely and loses his memory when his aircraft crashes. On her way from the hospital after visiting him, she too is involved in an accident. Thus begins a trail involving both the police and the underworld that spreads to the continent and ends in murder at an elegant manor house in the quiet Thames Valley.
