Garcia’s Smoking House
By Kevin Glancy

Kevin Glancy writes a chilling fiction, Garcia’s Smoking House, that portrays an unsettling future for life in America.

In 2018, the country has changed dramatically.

Freedom is now a thing of the past as government rule has enacted laws that control nearly every aspect of a person’s life.

The populace of a once proud nation is now ruled by fear, despair, bewilderment and subjugation.  Violence is erupting in every state and every city.  Anarchy provides the only solution as people begin to tire of having their lives constantly monitored and dictated.

Tony Ellison, an amateur political activist, is one of those citizens and becomes obsessed by the pursuit of a lost democracy.  Willing to risk everything in order to change the status quo, he enlists the help of David Merchant, an unemployed man with a mysterious past.

But those in control will do everything they can do to retain the status quo. Commander Alan Draper, head of the Special Operations Anti-Terrorist Squad, and William Tolfer, Minister for Homeland Security, have the means to take immediate action against anyone who threatens to upset the balance of power.  As they implement the Smoking House Law, one that will mean further oppression, violence escalates, building to total chaos.  Draper and Tolfer have secrets but, with the power of government behind them, they are determined to keep them buried at any cost.

Who will win the battle and who will be willing to pay the ultimate price?

Kevin Glancy raises relevant questions about how the powers that be can insidiously promote their socialist agendas under the guise of social change for the greater good.  With a riveting plotline incorporating political perceptions, it is an unsettling prediction of life in the future for any western democracy.
