It’s Not About the War chronicles one man’s journey through life, starting with his experiences in the worst of times and continuing to the best of times. 

Author Richard Ingelido explains his need to write this book: “I started out to document my life story for my children, Douglas and Denise. When I reached the stage of my assignment to Vietnam, so many unbidden memories came flooding back that it took on a life of its own.” 

Ingelido describes finding meaning amid the hardships and dangers in Vietnam, where he worked as a civilian engineer. His vivid book takes readers along with him on an unpredictable and intriguing journey that is still being written.  

Set amid the backdrop of Vietnam, this memoir shows a patriot who returned home a changed man, only to find his country in turmoil. It is a story of hope and how this man chose to find a meaningful purpose for the rest of his life.

About the Author

Richard Ingelido was a civilian engineer working for Garrett AiResearch, contracted to support the OV-10 aircraft with the First Marine Air Wing during the Vietnam War. This is his story. Now 70 and retired from Honeywell, he began writing his memoir 10 years ago. Originally from Scottdale, Pennsylvania, he currently lives in Brisbane, Australia.
