Suzanne Brabham’s debut novel, Nighttime Tears, explores the lives of a military family and a woman’s journey to overcome a painful past. 

Michael and Sarah Connelly are a young couple with two children. 

Michael, a wonderful father and husband, is dedicated to his military career.  Sarah loves her husband and her two little girls, Faith and Grace, but harbors an insecurity that stems from a troubled childhood. 

Sarah wants nothing more than to be the wife her husband and children need, but she constantly relives flashbacks, memories from a childhood she can not forget or forgive.  Although she tries to stay busy, her inner turmoil is always there; her mind, skipping back in time, calls up an imperfect portrait of life so opposite to the one she has. 

Her present life becomes complicated when she meets a kind and compassionate man, Corpsman Bill, who becomes a calming influence in her life.  But who is this man that seems to appear whenever Sarah is troubled or whenever people from her past disappoint her?   

Suzanne Brabham’s book is a penetrating look at the uncertainties of a woman’s life.  Filled with layered and complex characters and a plotline that contains emotive elements ranging from rage to redemption and sadness to joy, Nighttime Tears is funny and fearless.  

About the Author

Suzanne Brabham is a writer, artist, and registered nurse.  Ms. Brabham has recently finished the sequel to her novel, entitled Steel Roses, which will be released in early 2010.  She lives in Summerville, South Carolina.
