Don’t Shy Away
Overcoming shyness can be very difficult, but this wonderful children’s book puts a whole new spin on the subject.
Written by an author who overcame her own shyness as a child, Shy Cheyenne and the Substitute Teacher tells it like it is. This is the first book of a series, which will help children overcome their shyness and live up to their full potential.
Cheyenne is a very shy little girl. One day, her kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Bells, is out sick and a new teacher, Mr. Brown, is substituting for her. This is very scary for Cheyenne. Mrs. Bells told Mr. Brown in advance about Cheyenne’s shyness, so he gently lets Cheyenne know that she doesn’t need to be shy around him.
Cheyenne must overcome her nerves each day to work her way through her usual activities. But with new people around her, it’s especially hard. Today at school, Cheyenne was asked by Mr. Brown to pick out a book during story time, and take over as line leader. His special attention helps her adjust, but now she must tell Mr. Brown that she left her lunch at home, and then spilled paint on the floor.
Will Cheyenne’s substitute teacher be able to help her tackle her shyness? If Cheyenne can do it, so can you!
