A powerful
compilation of poems and prose that will challenge and question
the reader, society, and reality itself.
Marcus T.
Tolbert’s poetry collection, Soul of the Spoken Word, is
a book unlike any other. Spoken deep from the author’s heart, it
is a compilation of poems and prose brimming with struggle and
pain, love and loss, success and failure. Each verse delves into
the unknown, and confronts the tenets we call Truth.
Not just your
typical light-hearted rhyme, Tolbert’s poems stem from the
author’s deep questioning of himself and the world around him.
By reading such personal prose, each installation will challenge
the reader to do the same.
Overflowing
with vivid and powerful language, Soul of the Spoken Word
will speak to everyone, and inspire all who read it.

of words can be. Because Tolbert writes in order to seek the
truth, Soul of the Spoken Word is a collection of
fiercely personal and honest works. He currently lives in
Houston, Texas, and is already working on a novel and additional
