Frank Mwamba’s debut novel, Streetwise League: Rags to Riches, is the moving story of a young man’s dedication to and discovery of his father’s heritage.

Shawn is a young, talented national soccer star.

He’s never known the hardship of poverty as his father paved the way for his son’s success. 

Growing up, Shawn’s dad would tell him stories of his childhood; surviving the slums and having adventures, some fun and some very dangerous.  Shawn decides in order to fully understand his father, he needs to share some of the same experiences and leaves the spotlight of notoriety.

Moving into the slums where his father grew up, he finds some of the brightest and most talented people he’s ever met.  Joining the infamous underground Streetwise Soccer League, his teammates show him that life, even without fame or fortune, is amazing.  What one learns through hardship is priceless and what one gains cannot be bought.

Mwamba writes a moving story of hope, friendship, and invaluable life lessons. His characters shine with integrity and authenticity, and come to life throughout this story of a young man determined to relive his father’s legacy. His book gives voice to a country of people who have endured atrocities throughout history, yet continue to bring forth talented athletes, artists, and leaders.
