Milly and Tom are walking through the tropical forest in Guanacaste, Costa Rica when they hear something in the trees: birds of all shapes and sizes are happily squawking above them! 

Magpie Jay is having a big birthday bash, and everyone in the forest has been invited. But the grumpy lizard next door, Miss Green Iguana, doesn’t like the idea of her noisy neighbors ruining her peace and quiet. Miss Iguana and her friends plan to crash Magpie Jay’s party and finally put an end to the friendly festivities – until she finds out that the surprise is on her! 

Come join Milly and Tom on this fun and educational romp through the tropical forest as they watch Magpie Jay and her friends celebrate the party of the season. But beware – you might even learn something along the way!

Author Maria Lorena Lopez has been bird watching with her daughter, Milena, for over eight years. The Bird’s Party was inspired by their adventures together, and Lopez hopes that it will encourage more families to go outside and enjoy the nature that surrounds them. When not writing or bird watching, Lopez works as a consultant in civil engineering.
