The Countess of Kensington
By Paul M. Collins

Meet the Author

Author Paul M. Collins is married, with two children and three grandchildren. He wrote The Countess of Kensington as homage to the parks and gardens of London where he spent his childhood. This is his second book in a series. “The story is set a thousand years in the future, when people have found answers to the many environmental issues which besiege us today. It is an optimistic story because I am an optimistic believer in the future. I believe people will solve the problems ahead simply because they cannot afford to ignore them.” After teaching in London for 17 years, Collins then taught in Benin, West Africa, where he and his wife started their own school. He is now retired.

A Wonderful Adventure Where Learning History is Fun.

Follow a little boy as he embarks on an intriguing journey to learn all about the history of Britain despite his lack of enthusiasm for the past.

Paul Baker is just a typical boy growing up in a city of giant redwood trees in the distant future, where homes are carved from the trees and are connected through walkways and roadways in the dense British forest. He is a thoughtful child with an adventurous and curious nature, but his curiosity just doesn’t seem to extend to the subject of history.

When he gets a failing grade in his History class, Paul’s parents seek to kindle some enthusiasm with a holiday in London, in hopes that introducing him to his cultural roots will help him connect better to the past. It is in London where he first meets the Countess of Kensington, who rouses his curiosity when she presents him with a riddle. Through his experiences in London, Paul learns that it is necessary to know the past before we can contribute anything worthwhile to the future.
