The Girl, the Moon, and the Melon

By Rena Dunsworth

Meet the Author

Rena Dunsworth grew up in Denver and now lives in Manhattan. She was motivated to write The Girl, the Moon, and the Melon as a response to the oppression of gays by various religions. She is currently at work on a sequel, which picks up with Henrietta and Amy in Rio, and follows them as they return to New York and the mythical realms beyond.

You won’t be able to put it down! The Girl, The Moon, and The Melon by author Rena Dunsworth mixes modern-day religion with ancient deities to come up with a fresh perspective on relationships. This exuberant escapade defies description.

Henry Bloom wants to be a girl, so he prays for a transformation. God hears his prayers – and voila – a young angel is sent to introduce Henrietta Bloom to the world. But if Henrietta is to achieve true happiness in her new body, she must first accept that she is a lesbian, and she must also try to avoid seduction by the devil! Is it written in stone that gays must be ostracized everywhere? Her mission is to stop gay people from experiencing hell when they die, and to change how gays are accepted in heaven and on earth.

Luckily, Henrietta meets her true love, Amy, and together with some friends she sets off to recreate a world where everyone can live in peace and harmony. The Girl, The Moon, and The Melon is only the beginning. A sequel awaits.
