A Fantastical
Tale with Memorable Characters and Loads of Adventure
Join Megan Greenberg on an
outrageous fantasy with imaginative people, places and things in The
Orser’s Promise.
Apt, an awkward Orser, lives in
the imagined land of Eem.
The story begins with Apt making
a brilliant blunder, intentionally, and falling head first into a
journey that takes her on a very strange trip.
Apt flees her employer’s wrath
and takes refuge with an Antiquarian, remembering his past kindness to
her. But it’s been years since Apt has seen him and he’s changed
from his previous benevolence. Apt decides to leave, in the
interest of her own survival. With the help of Antiquarian’s
super-sentient Cat, she
makes use of a folio of arcane secrets. With a promise to return the
folio to Antiquarian, Apt is off and running to the local catacombs.
Transformed, Apt then heads to
the public house and meets the Poet, a romantic young man. As she makes
various discoveries such as she is at the center of a search for
the broken Harp of Don Juana Lucia, an ancient instrument that has the
power to heal and assures its owner of fame and glory, she’ll have to
avoid one who wishes to use it for his own wicked ends.
This shadowy villain is waiting
and watching and is poised to strike.
Greenberg’s fun and lyrical
classic is a great, galloping adventure filled with a host of
nonsensical characters that pop off the pages to charm and bemuse
readers of any age.
