Alex Defaux is a beautiful young woman who has it all—a great career as a researcher in Human Biology and a devoted boyfriend, Jamie.

Approaching a river lock, they see a young man fall into the water.  Fishing him out, Alex offers him a ride when she hears that he is going their way.  Baz is an animal rights activist and, although friendly, Alex thinks she would be wise not to tell him that her work involves animal experimentation.  But after Jamie leaves in a rage, the tension begins to rise. Alex will find herself crossing more than one watershed in her life and defending not only her convictions, but her life.
